Ten Francs Coin (Hercules Type), France 1965

Obverse:
The denomination and date are enclosed within a laurel wreath, surrounded by the inscription “REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE” (Republic of France). The central legend reads “10 FRANCS” with the date 1965 below.

Reverse:
The reverse features the celebrated “Hercules group,” depicting Hercules standing between allegorical figures of Liberty and Equality, a powerful emblem of Republican ideals. An exergue line appears beneath the group. The surrounding inscription reads “LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ” (Liberty, Equality, Fraternity), with the designer’s name Dupré below.

Edge:
Relief edge design.

Technical details:
Silver (.900); weight 25 g; diameter 37 mm; round. Struck by the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint).
