Obverse:

The national coat of arms of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria is depicted at the center, accompanied by the denomination and date. The surrounding Cyrillic inscription reads “НАРОДНА РЕПУБЛИКА БЪЛГАРИЯ” (People’s Republic of Bulgaria) and “ПЕТ ЛЕВА” (Five Leva), with the year 1973 below.

Reverse:

A dynamic composition of soldiers commemorates the September 1923 Anti-Fascist Uprising. The Cyrillic legend “СЕПТЕМВРИЙСКО АНТИФАШИСТКО ВЪСТАНИЕ 1923” translates as “September Anti-Fascist Uprising, 1923.”

Edge:

Decorated with blind-blocked five-pointed stars.

Technical details:

Minted at the Bulgarian Mint, Sofia. Silver (.900); weight 20.5 g; diameter 36 mm; round; milled technique; medal alignment. Issued in 1973 as part of the Third Lev currency system (1962–1999); now demonetized.
